Ida Mae Wombwell

Mrs. Ida Mae Wombwell was born May 29, 1921, to parents Roy and Mabel Redkey. She was wife to Glen Wombwell and mother to Glen Roy and James Roger Wombwell, also BHS graduates.

Graduating from BHS with the class of 1939, she graduated from Northeast Missouri Teachers College (Truman State University) with a degree in music education.

She began her teaching career in Sedalia Missouri where she taught instrumental and choral music. The remainder of her teaching career was spent in the Brookfield school system until her retirement in 1976.

Mrs. Wombwell is a highly respected musician, gifted educator, and mentor. She developed one of the more prestigious vocal music programs in the state of Missouri. She continues to be an active civic leader and Volunteer in the Brookfield community.
