Bill Thudium

Brookfield has many outstanding leaders, one of them being Bill Thudium. Fondly referred to as "Mr. Brookfield," Bill's involvement in our community has spanned his entire life.

Born on October 13, 1950, to parents, Lane and Emma Lee Thudium, Bill was a BHS graduate with the Class of 1968. Bill was actively involved throughout his high school years, participating on sports teams, choirs, musicals, and elected as President of Student Council.

Though in his early 30's, Bill was tapped to spearhead the 125th Brookfield anniversary celebration. He encouraged many younger members of the Brookfield community to join in and serve. He was once again asked to organize the 150th Sesquicentennial celebration with much success.

Bill has been a champion for Brookfield and inspired residents to donate and "do good work for generations to come." Bill once said to "wear Brookfield on our sleeves" - in other words, be prepared to talk about its worth at any given opportunity. Bill practices what he preaches. He has served as a member of the Brookfield City Council for 5 years, Mayor of Brookfield in 1986, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Authority, HTC Steering Committee, and a BAGP Board of Directors member. He has served as a tour guide for all nine Leadership Development classes established in 2006. Bill is currently serving as President of the Pershing Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. He is an active member of the Presbyterian Church and is a member of the Community Chorus.

Bill pens the monthly newspaper column, "Helloooo, Brookfield" and his community good news and Brookfield history articles reach audiences across the area, state and beyond. He has been the recipient of the Missouri Community Betterment Leadership Award and the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership Citizen of the Year Award for Philanthropy. He is a founding member of the Brookfield Quarterback Club and an active member of the Booster Club and Stadium Club.

Bill and wife, Shane, raised three children in the Brookfield community. Like his parents before him, Bill is building a legacy of love for his community with all 3 of children and 10 grandchildren Brookfield residents.
