Marilyn Rose Thudium

Marilyn was born on January 26, 1926, to parents Ray and Geniveve Sternke. Graduating from BHS in 1945, Marilyn continued her education with an academic scholarship to Missouri Valley College where she was a cheerleader and member of Delta Xi sorority. After marrying and establishing her home in Brookfield, she continued to support Brookfield schools with her work on committees, PTA, and Booster Club. Marilyn was a founding member of Hi-Flyers and Mother’s Club, a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, PEO sisterhood serving as President and state convention delegate, Athena Club and various civic committees to celebrate Centennials, Bi-centennials, town parades and celebrations. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church serving as Choir Director for all ages, Deacon/Elder, Presbytery treasurer, delegate to national Convention, Women’s Circle life-time member, and received the Outstanding Missouri Presbyterian Award. Her service to the Becky Thatcher Girl Scout Council is unmatched. She was Troop 222 leader, State Council board member, Field Director, winner of Thanks Badge 1, the highest award in adult scouting, winner of Thanks Badge 2, rarely awarded, and a delegate to National Girl Scout Convention. Marilyn has served as “house mom” to University of Missouri’s Chi Omega, Delta Kappa, Alpha Phi, and Alpha Chi Omega sorority women and honored as Housemother of the Year, a Tiger Scholarship member, and “Flag Lady” for the Mizzou football team.
