Jim Elliott

Jim Elliot was born on June 1, 1954, the son of Bob and Betty Elliott. Jim was a BHS graduate with the Class of 1972 and graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State). Jim returned returned to Brookfield, as an accountant for Stanbury Uniforms. Forty-plus years later, he is now the president of the Company. During his lifetime at Stanbury, Jim was part of the management group that literally kept Stanbury Uniforms in Brookfield and saved more than 200 jobs for the community. That group negotiated a buyout of the company while its owner was preparing to move the plant to Florida. Jim has served as Chief Financial Officer and Stanbury has become the nation’s leading manufacturer of band uniforms. They have added a manufacturing location in Milan and have continued to provide more jobs for the area, recently celebrating their 100th anniversary. Jim became president of Stanbury Uniforms last year after the death of his longtime partner, Gary Roberts. Under this management, Stanbury Uniforms has become the largest supporter of the Brookfield Marching Blue, donating band and color guard uniforms, flags and other accessories for many years. Jim has given countless hours to the BHS athletic programs – working with his brother to broadcast Brookfield High School football and basketball games on KZBK for nearly 25 years. He and his wife, Amy, have raised two daughters who were both graduates of BHS. Jim as also served several terms on the Pershing Memorial Hospital Board, a local bank Board of Directors, multiple terms on the Brookfield Area Chamber of Commerce Board, and is a former Chamber president. He has been part of countless committees and community activities including both the Quasquicentennial and Sesquicentennial celebrations. He has been a board member, deacon, and elder at the Brookfield First Christian Church for more than 35 years.
